COMMONLY REPORTED PROGRESS AFTER AIT

PLEASE NOTE: During and/or after AIT, the individual's hearing test pattern and responses to sounds in the environment generally show improvements. However, many changes occur with AIT that on the surface to not appear to be related to hearing and the auditory system. For example, individuals sometimes report that they can taste and smell things better and are no longer tactilely defensive. Parents and teachers often indicate that children have better post-training balance, motor coordination, eye-hand coordination and eye alignment, and better handwriting. There have been instances in which people could suddenly tell time, or could understand left/right directionality. The sensory-motor processing center of the brain, (CVS- cerebellar-vestibular system) is thought to be stimulated and reorganized by AIT, accounting for progress not explained by improved hearing and listening ability.
